Harry Potter and the PG-13 Film

I saw Goblet of Fire with the girlfriends last night. Good movie! Very lighthearted for most of the film (I couldn't stop laughing for much of it), which is good seeing as how the ending was going to take a much darker turn at the end, and that Order of the Phoenix is going to most likely be an angst-a-thon. Whine about in your Livejournal, Harry!

I'm also having a lot of fun with Mario Kart DS. Apparently someone in the neighborhood has a wireless network--it will keep me satisfied until I receive my Wi-Fi Connector. :)

BLUE SPARKS

I bought Mario Kart DS on Tuesday, and it is incredibly fun. It's got all new tracks (I love Waluigi Pinball and Peach Gardens) along with 16 retro tracks from the previous Mario Kart games (I loved SNES Donut Plains 1 as a kid). And of course Adam destroyed me in multiplayer mode. But the real fun lies in the online play.

It's very simple to set up on the DS, whether you're at McDonalds or you have a wireless network at home. For those who don't have wireless (like me), you can order this "dongle" that is a USB Wi-Fi Connector at Nintendo's online store for $35. I've been playing online at Adam's house, and I never timed out or lost my connection during a race. What makes the experience even more painless is that there's no communication between the players. There's no online chat window, so no opportunity for your rival to spew bon-mots like "yUo r a fag0rt!!!111" when you beat him.

In addition to creating your own screen name, you can create a small emblem to put on your karts. When my Wi-Fi Connector comes in the mail, I'll be playing online more often. My gaming name isn't GallifreyLady (doesn't fit), but you'll be able to recognize me by the Shell symbol from POTS. ;)

Also, I tried World of Warcraft for the first time at Adam's house last night and played with him and his little sister. I made a paladin called Marrim; I forget what server I was on. I will admit that I had fun, but I won't buy it, because I know that inevitably it will feel like a chore to play. I can't afford to have access to such a time-sink like WoW.

dude get on Vent

Thursday I went out with the boys to Al's house. We watched 2 Fast 2 Furious while he played WoW (AB Holiday!). That movie is great in its sheer awfulness. Ludacris' afro disappears halfway through the film, Eva Mendes stands around looking bored, there's a random pointless torture scene, and the chemistry between the two leads involves them calling each other an ass over and over. Oh, and cars. Go rent it, it's awesomely horrible.

Well, I'm poor, out-of-shape and a bit lonely, but Adam keeps me going!

It's good to be back

Seeing that I finally finished Myst V (my thoughts on it are posted in the EoA spoiler forum at MO), I ended my sabbatical from the community tonight. I didn't realize how much I missed the forums until I came back!

And I returned none too soon--Alcugs has released Age-creation tools for UU! Tomorrow I'll be able to check out his website about it more thoroughly. And Cyan's announcement of the UU auth keys not being available until late November--could something big be happening soon? Perhaps the Uru tools Rand had hinted at?

Anticipation is a painful but lovely thing...
