I'm in the thick of college, yet bored at the present moment, so here's the classes I've been taking this semester:
1.
Anthropology: Culture, Society, and People My least favorite class. The professor is enthusiastic without being obnoxious about it, and he teaches the concepts far better than the main book we've been using (it's drier than the desert). Unfortunately, not even enthusiasm can make this class any fun, which is a pity, because I thought it would be interesting.
2.
History: European History 1500-1815 My favorite class. Yeah, it's just listening in a giant lecture hall, but I love history. This time in European history certainly wasn't dull: Renaissance, Reformation, American and French Revolution, all the religious wars, the birth of the scientific method, you name it.
3.
Theater: Beginning Design This class is a repeat for me (my grade could've been better), but it's much more enjoyable and doable this second time around. The teachers now are different, and they are much more helpful and willing to lend a hand and give more time to complete the projects than my last time. Which is good, because I do not have a head for this type of creativity (I always hated arts and crafts), and work much more slowly than everyone else in the class.
The class itself is split into 4 components, designed to teach you the basics in Costuming, Lighting, Drafting, and Set Design. Right now I'm taking Costuming and Lighting, and will do the other two after Spring Break. Lighting has been easy--learning the four qualities of light, seeing how lighting an object at different angles can affect said object, and how to physically use the lighting instruments. The big Costuming project is the making of an apron. Ugh. After I'm done making it, I don't know whether I'm going to frame it or set it on fire!

Theater: Latina Playwrights in U.S. Theater Truth be told, I only took the class because it fit my schedule and bumped my credits to the average amount of 15. Still, it's been a good class so far. We only meet on Fridays. The plays we've been discussing have been good reads. It's kinda funny though--apart from the professor, I'm the only Latina in the class, but I'm the only one who doesn't know any Spanish!
The class has a community service requirement that can be easily filled. Mine is already done--I was a cast member in Women Playwrights of Color of the 1920s. Several plays were performed through staged readings. I was in the play
Soldadera, about the women who fought in the Mexican Revolution.
5.
Theater: Scenic Design This class is the real reason why I'm not applying to the DRC Liason position. Our ongoing project is to do the entire set design for our production of
Romeo and Juliet. We're already behind, we haven't even been able to finalize a design yet. It doesn't open until late April, but the closer we get, the more spare time this is gonna eat up. Come tech week, I'll be too busy to even check my email, much less Uru news.
