My head hurts...and I like it

Today I saw Boondock Saints for the first time. It is an excellent film, and contains Willem Dafoe's best role that he has done or ever will do. You can probably find it in the bargain bin since it's a few years old, but it's a great cult classic. The two protagonists are the most religious vigilantes you will ever meet. It gets bonus points for taking place in Southie.

Adam also finished playing through Killer 7 so I could see the ending.

MIND = MELTED

The game is a complete mindjob. It's also a very polarizing game--people so far either love it or hate it. The simple gameplay (rail shooter with simple puzzles) is not the draw, but it's got amazing style and surreal weirdness oozing out of the screen. It's also rated Mature, boys and girls, but it's a different kind of maturity from games like GTA. It's heavy on violence and it gave me the creeps, but it leaves you thinking long after you beat it, and that for me is one of the hallmarks of a great game. The director, Suda 51, was heavily influenced by the movies of David Lynch and Takashi Miike, so if you've seen their stuff, you (kind of) know what you'll be in for. You might not end up liking this style, but I support all game developers and publishers that dare to try something different.

It's out for the PS2 and the Cube, but the Cube doesn't run into the constant loading times that are present in the PS2 version. The graphics also look smoother on the Cube version. Also, you might want to rent this before committing to purchasing it--as I said, it is a polarizing game.

Rack 'em

My Batman Begins viewing count is now four. I saw it tonight with my dad, my brother and his girlfriend. And when did IHOP's food become delicious?? I swear the movie keeps getting better and better each time. Missy and I get a kick out of quoting Dr. Crane:

"...Would you like to see my mask?"

"He's here."
"Who?"
"The Bat Maaaaaaan."

And how oh so delightfully wrong to enjoy the scene when Batman pulls Crane by the hair...

And the Boston DS mini-meet was a success, I'm happy to say. Everyone was friendly and we got a kick out of fully utilizing our handhelds for the first time. I've learned that I suck at Bomberman, Puyo Pop AND Meteos!

I also purchased two diametrically opposing DVDs--Sleeping Beauty...and American Psycho Killer Uncut Edition.

My random cravings start at the oddest times...

It's now 3:30 AM, I have to get up for work in four hours, and right now all I can think of is Myst V. Fruitless searches throughout the internet have only made me hungry for more info. I need another taste. A clip, a screenie, a piece of music. Just give me something, because that sweet sweet pain of anticipation is upon me once more, and my curiosity needs to be sated.

ZONK, or Silly Walks and Spam Forever

Damn my allergies, I've been a sneeze machine for two days now. The sneezing has curtailed my enjoyment of my newly-purchased copies of Puyo Pop Fever (DS) and Baten Kaitos (GCN) somewhat, but at least my workplace has air conditioning.

I've been revisiting my Animal Crossing town lately. My plan is to take care of my town until I buy the DS version, then it's farewell to Parna for good.

Oh, and Happy Fourth of July my fellow Americans. Hope it was more exciting for you than for me (the weekend consisted solely of the Monty Python marathon on BBC America. IRONY).
